July 2008 - Aston Jitsu brings back old times...

Erdington Jitsu Club

Aston Jitsu and all the other University Jitsu clubs in Birmingham have gone old skool! We've closed down for the summer and have gone to train at Erdington Jitsu club. The first "holiday session" was two weeks ago and it was great to see a good mix of jitsukas with their instructors from all the Birmingham clubs on the mat. It reminded me of old times when we used to close down for the holidays and train at Cocksmoors Wood Jitsu club. What a sight!

If your free on a Tuesday night between 7-9pm, come down and join us.

June 2008 - New Sensei and the Return of the Orignal one...

Manjeet receives his HakamaCongratulations to Sensei Manjeet Sandhu who received his hakama today and will take over the reigns at Birmingham City University Jitsu Club (formerly UCE).

He has worked tirelessly this year, helping out at two clubs - Aston Jitsu and Erdington Jitsu. He deserves his reward as he's a great teacher and a great jitsuka. Everyone at Aston Jitsu wishes him all the best on his new adventure.

Not only that, Sensei Paul Glebioska who was Sensei Eric Lau's first Shodan finally returns to Aston Jitsu. He will be sharing the responsibility with Sensei Eric Lau and leading the club into it's next chapter. We've missed him here at Aston Jitsu and we look forward to a great and successful future. Great times lay ahead!

November 2007 - New Instructor / New Club / New Black Top Sensei H & Sensei Stu

Wow... What a crazy month, November has been. It's been such an amazing month for us all at Aston Jitsu Club! Sensei Howard Douglas has established Nechells Green Jitsu Club. He's taken his time to get to this stage but it's all worth in the end as he's a great instructor and we have no doubt that he produce and mould some great jitsukas. Another new club, this time it's Sensei Rob Whiskens opens a new club in Alcester, St Benedicts Catholic Jitsu Club. It's predominately a kids clubs so he be moulding the young guns to become sensational instructors at 15 and above. Imagine going to University or at 18 having a black belt, that would be so amazing.

It's been a busy time for us at Aston Jitsu club but we always find time to help our new instructors and new clubs. They've started well so fingers crossed, they'll keep the momentum going and turn them into strong healthy clubs! We wish them both all the best for the future.

This year that's four Aston Jitsu instructors going out to spread their wings to fly the Jitsu Foundation flag. That's unprecedented and truely remarkable, we're so proud of all our achievements we have made, but this year even more so. It's been a great year. Fingers crossed, this is the beginning and we're only going to get stronger and stronger!

Last but not least, at the Atemi Nationals, our very own ray of sunshine Sensei Eric Lau has been promoted to Secondary Tutor for his jitsu, his work, his dedication and his teaching. Well deserved. Not only that, he gets to wear a coveted black top! Black is definately his colour!!! CONGRATULATIONS to all our new instructors and new clubs, we're all proud of you especially Sensei Eric Lau for all work you've done! May the success continue for many years to come!!!

October 2007 - New Instructor

Aston Jitsu is proud to annonuce that Stuart Jefferies received his haks and has successfully launched Erdington Jitsu club. He had a "few" injuries over the years but he finally got there and relatively in one piece! We wish him all the best for him and new club. Another proud day in the Aston jitsu history.

James Owen receives his HaksSeptember 2007 - James Owen gets Haks

Congratulations to James Owen for receiving his haks as he will be taking over Birmingham University Jitsu Club. We all think this is the most important grade in our style because with haks comes with great responsibilty.

He's been looking forward to this day for years so we're delighted he's acheived his dreams. It's a big stepping stone so Aston Jitsu would like to wish SENSEI James Owen all the very best for the future.
